Deconstruction Highlight: Minnie’s Magical Moments
Last night over a dozen airmen from the Airmen Leadership School at McGuire Joint Military Base came out to help us with carnival deconstruction. They were a welcome addition and helped make the work move much faster than it would have otherwise happened. We are all grateful for your assistance. Your work ethic and efficiency was an inspiration to us all.
I cannot thank you enough and would love to have you back again next year!! Also thanks to Minnie from Minnie’s Magical Moments who made the introduction, accompanied them and did not hesitate to get dirty with the rest of us.
St Charles Borromeo 2023 volunteers and the rest of the parish are grateful to all of you for your service!

Thank You!
Well, the last carnival game has been played and it’s the end of another successful carnival season. For the last year I have served as a chair for the St Charles Borromeo annual carnival. I have to say it was hard work but one of the most rewarding experiences I have had in my life. I want to take a moment to thank Father Dan for trusting in Tim and I with such an important parish event. Thank you to all of the past chair people who offered valuable input and experience and never failed to respond to a request. Thank you to all of the activity chairs who oversaw things like bar, construction, food tent, kitchen ,supplies, security, decorating, IT and too many more to mention (there were at least 4 dozen activity chairs). Thank you for the hundreds of volunteers who donated their valuable time to make the carnival run so well. Thank you to our vendors who have partnered with us through the years. Thank you to Chief Calabrese, the officers from Cinnaminson, officers from other local police departments and the fire/emt personnel on hand to keep everyone safe. Thanks to our neighbors who persevered through a week of noise and traffic. Most of all thank you to the thousands of people that came out to enjoy this 54 year tradition.
Our work is not quite done as we will spend the next couple of weeks deconstructing and storing the equipment and structures. Come out any weeknight at 6 to dusk and weekends starting at 9am if you want to help (no construction experience required ).
See you in 2024!!!

Carnival will be reopening at 6 tonight and it is your last chance to get a panzarotti, funnel cake and all of your favorite foods.
Come out and use your ride credits or put more on your band. We have some great prizes at all of our games.
It's your last chance to "Take me out to the carnival" so come out and enjoy the final night of carnival 2023.
Saturday Carnival Double Header
What a beautiful day for a double header at the St Charles Borromeo Carnival. We will be opening our rides games and food at noon today for Kiddie Carnival. We will have pizza, hoagies , chicken fingers , fries and more open in our food area. Unlimited rides are available from 12 to 4 for just $20 per person.
Chase and Marshall from Paw Patrol will be visiting from 1 to 3pm
The Kiddie Carnival will close at 4 so that our amazing volunteers can get the food and games ready for the final carnival night from 6 to 11. It's your last chance to get a panzarotti, funnel cake, and all the carnival food you love until 2024.
Don't forget about the MEGA 50/50 as the prize continues to climb and is currently over $23000 for the winner

Kiddie Karnival Postponed
Due to the forecast of bad weather in early afternoon we will be postponing kiddie carnival on Friday. It will be made up as a day/night double header on Saturday. We do plan to open for business Friday evening at 6.
Thus the revised carnival schedule will be:
Friday 6 to 11
Saturday 12 to 4 and 6 to 11
I know some will be disappointed but know we are making this decision in an effort to maximize everyone’s fun while providing a safe environment.
Thanks for your understanding.
Thursday Carnival
It’s a beautiful day for baseball and carnival! We will continue to mix the two as we invited the Philie Phanatic to visit tonight from 6:30 to 7:30 Our food is being prepped and ready to go. There is plenty of seating in the food ten. If you want food you can bring while you walk the grounds get our “Bank” fries in the food tent complete with walk around cup. Thinking Italian? Get a panzerotti or a few slices of pizza. Also keep in mind our walking tacos and quesadillas ingredients are made fresh each day! Each of our booths sell cold drinks to help make the meal complete
The games and rides will all be open and if you have run out of tickets, use the kiosks to load credits onto your wristband that is dispensed. Also be sure to try our brand new Hawaiian Shave Ice next to Panzerotti for a delicious refreshing desert.
Note (because I know there will be people asking) that we are monitoring weather for Friday and will not make a decision on operations until Friday morning for Kiddie Carnival. Watch for an announcement here.
Wednesday Carnival
Looks like the rain will move out by 4 with plenty of time for the volunteers to get the carnival ready for an on time opening. Come out and grab some food in the food tent , beer garden, panzerotti, , walking taco, quesadilla, or pizza. If you still have advance ride tickets, you can use them tonight. Otherwise go to the kiosk to purchase your band and load credits for the rides. Rides require 4 to 6 credits / tickets per rider. Games were packed last night but all of the prizes have been restocked and ready to go.
Its not too late to buy a mega 50/50 ticket . Prize is at $17,400 and growing!!!
Come out and join in the fun!
New Ride Ticket Kiosks
Our carnival partner Amusement Rides of America has implemented kiosks that will be available throughout the grounds. The kiosks will accept credit cards, debit cards and even cash! Keep in mind cash purchases are exact change only as the kiosks do not dispense change. Tonight is Tuesday Unlimited Rides and the kiosks will dispense your band for $30 per person. There is a similar process for Kiddie Carnival ($20 per person) on Friday. The rest of the week the kiosks will give you a band with ride credits that can be used the entire week. Please note that the kiosks charge a small $2 fee per band.
Also keep in mind that once the carnival is over the ride credits disappear so budget accordingly. Advance ride tickets can be used at all rides in lieu of the ride credits on your band and still do not expire.

Saturday 6/17: Last chance to use up those ride credits on your wristband and get your Mega 50/50 tickets in. Be sure to get your last funnel cake for the year and enjoy all carnival has to offer before it's over for another year. Stay around for the live drawing of the Mega 50/50 at 10:30pm.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
If you have ever stood in line at the ticket booth and thought, “There has to be a better way,” your thoughts have been answered. Our carnival partner Amusement Rides of America has implemented kiosks that will be available throughout the grounds. The kiosks will accept credit cards, debit cards and even cash! Keep in mind cash purchases are exact change only as the kiosks do not dispense change. The kiosks will give you a band with ride credits that can be used the entire week. Unfortunately, once the carnival is over the ride credits disappear so budget accordingly.
We will still be selling advance ride tickets which do not expire. Tickets can be used at all rides in lieu of the ride credits on your band. Stay tuned for more information on how the kiosk bands will work in conjunction with Tuesday Unlimited Rides and the Friday Kiddie Carnival.
Welcome to Carnival 2023!
It is that season again. No not baseball season, CARNIVAL season. This year’s theme is Take me out to the Carnival and Co-Chairs Ron Kennedy and Tim Kirk have been planning since last summer to make this year’s carnival the fun and safe family event it has been in the past.
Ron has been a parishioner for 27 years having raised 4 children with his wife Milissa in this community. Although relatively new to carnival, Ron spent most of his volunteer years coaching his kid’s teams in sports and started getting involved with parish committees in 2017.
Tim’s last name will be more familiar as his brother is our pastor Fr Dan Kirk. Tim’s family have been residents of Delran for years and you will recognize Tim from mass either leading us in song or doing one of the readings.
The carnival takes a lot of hard work from volunteers that range in age from their teens to their 70s . Unfortunately we skew to the older side currently but more and more school and RE parents are getting involved to keep our carnival thriving.
Please plan to come out and help us with assembly of the carnival booths starting May 8th and/or participate in carnival week as a volunteer. Regardless of how much time you can offer be sure to come out and enjoy the rides, games food and beverages that the carnival has to offer.
We look forward to seeing you on the carnival grounds.

Announcement on 2022 Carnival
Welcome one and all!
Howdy partners!
It’s back, the St. Charles Borromeo 2022 Carnival will be held this year, June 13th through June 18th and as in the past it will be on parish grounds with all the fun and excitement that many folks have been missing for two years due to the pandemic. Our family has been parishioners for over thirty years, all of our children attended and are alumni of the school.
We are very excited that the carnival will be back for so many families, children and friends to experience and to create fond memories. For many years we have volunteered at the carnival and enjoyed working with many of our friends and fellow parishioners. This year’s theme is “Back in the Saddle Again” appropriately named for the return of this extraordinary event which comes once a year to St. Charles Borromeo Parish.
It is our sincere hope that you will please volunteer, or help with the carnival wherever and whenever you can. We are looking forward to seeing you as we saddle up for the St. Charles Carnival.
Peace, Thanks and God Bless you,
Bob and Rosemary Wissmann

Cancellation of the 2021 Carnival
On Monday, March 30, 2021, Governor Murphy increased the capacity for outdoor gatherings from 50 to 200. As we planned for 2021, and monitored the vaccine roll out, we hoped and prayed that the state would re-open quicker. While we believe that the state will gradually continue to reopen, at this time we see no clear pathway that would allow capacity numbers that would make our beloved carnival possible. Therefore, we are announcing that the St. Charles Carnival, a fifty plus year tradition in Cinnaminson, will again be canceled this year.
This has been an extremely difficult decision to make after many conversations and meetings with individuals at the local, county, and state levels. However, our highest priority has always been to provide a family-friendly and safe environment for both our guests and volunteer workers. Under the current conditions in New Jersey, we would not be able to ensure that priority is met at this time.
Planning this event is a year-long process and we would like to sincerely thank all of the people who have devoted their time and efforts to try to make this carnival a reality under these challenging situations. With setup scheduled to begin in just a few short weeks, there is no way to guarantee that the state will be opened up enough to allow our Carnival activities.
Please know that the 2022 Carnival Chairfamily will soon begin the planning for next year’s carnival. We are looking forward to our community event next year and for many more years to come.
Even though our carnival has been cancelled, we will still be holding our Mega 50/50 raffle. Tickets will be mailed and also available online at www.scbcarnival.com. Last year’s winner received over $27,000. We appreciate your continued support during these trying times!

Carnival 2021 Survey
Dear Carnival Volunteers,
As everyone knows, planning for the 2020 carnival was brought to a halt last April as pandemic emergency stay at home orders were put in place across the country. This broke a string of over 50 years of the St. Charles Carnival, a major parish fundraiser and community event highlighting the beginning of summer.
2021 again finds us in a unique situation. With the distribution of two major vaccines increasing daily, the recent approval of the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine, along with more potential vaccines on the horizon and the declining infection rates, we are hopeful that we can host a carnival in some capacity in June. While this information is hopeful, we do not have real visibility on when the governor will significantly ease outdoor gatherings. Even so, we must plan for the possibility that he will.
One of the most important aspects of this is to add layers of safety for our volunteers and guests. As such, we have spoken to our various vendors about how to sanitize games and rides. We are looking at adding extra tent seating to spread out our dinner patrons, adding bathroom sanitation personnel and providing masks, gloves, sanitizer, and proper signage throughout the grounds. All food handlers and game workers will wear masks and disposable gloves.
We understand and respect that everyone’s comfort level is different. While there are many areas we can focus on, one of the most important areas is our volunteers and their willingness to help make the 2021 carnival a reality, even if it is scaled back in size for this year. Your input is critical to our ability to operate in 2021.
The Carnival is scheduled for Monday, June 14th through Saturday, June 19th, 2021.
Official Statement on Cancellation of 2020 Carnival
During this unprecedented time in all our lives, we are forced to make difficult decisions. Our highest priority at this time is the health and safety of all; our volunteers, patrons, vendors and the people who have supported our carnival for the last 51 years. This year’s carnival theme, “Generations – Building their Future,” emphasizes taking care of those most important to us. After consultation with Fr. Dan Kirk and members of our carnival council, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 St. Charles Borromeo Carnival. Given the uncertainty of timing and the need to protect others, cancelling is the most prudent decision we can make at this time. That said, the carnival will be back and stronger than ever in June of 2021. Thank you for understanding this heartbreaking decision and please know of our prayers for you during this trying time.
